Considering I'm suppose to be packing and cleaning, I sure seem to be making lots of cards.
Oh well. The card I have made today is an anniversary card and it is also a submission to the challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments. Today's challenge is a technique challenge and the technique is faux metal. I didn't follow the instructions provided. I decided to tweek the technique. I'm suppose to cover a piece of cardstock with gold or silver emboss power and heat it up. While it is warm, I'm suppose to press an image into embossing powder. Instead, I dry embossed a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Big Shot. I then applied silver emboss powder and heated it up. This way the embossed imaged stood out. It still looks like metal.
Here is the card:
The faux metal isn't perfect. You can still see white, but I think it adds to the card. It gives it a rougher look. For a little color I decided to add a So Saffron flower from Vintage Vogue.
There you have it. Definitely give it a try.
Happy Stamping

Kristy,
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I would never have thought to do the technique this way. It definitely makes the image more pronounced. I can think of several embossing folders/plates that would look awesome with this technique. Way to go and thank you for contributing at Hand Stamped Sentiments.
Great idea to tweak the technique. The faux metal background is very elegant and makes it a very unique anniversary card. Thank you for playing at Hand Stamped Sentiments.
